When you say “You”, your Aatmaa, Consciousness or Soul is immortal. And that immortal Soul is in this body; and you say this body is mortal. It means you are cutting the same branch you are sitting on.

If being with immortal Aatmaa your body does not get the quality of your Soul which is immortality; then it means you did not understand or allow your Consciousness to transform the mortality of the body.

So, Lord Krishna understood this mistake of His existence and transformed every atom of His body into pure Conscious Energy. By doing so He became the Guide or Guru for this understanding. And so, He is called The Jagad-Guru. The first real Guru of the universe.

Krishna not only transformed His body into Him, but He also transformed all His Gopinis with Him into Pure Consciousness.

So, when you see a guru has left his body that means he has not completed his guru state. He cannot be called guru. He has to come back again to correct this.
